Kyoshi Steve Foster (5th dan)

Kyoshi Steve began his training in Seido Karate in the Central Wellington Dojo in 1994, although never grading there due to moving cities.  His training continued at the Kingsland Dojo in Auckland under the tutelage of Sensei Roger James and Sensei Troy Ballantyne.

 

Another job opportunity bought Steve to Christchurch in 1997, when he transferred to the Christchurch Shibu under Hanshi Renzie.  Steve graded to Shodan in December 1999 and now holds the rank of Godan, achieved in 2015.

 

Kyoshi Steve instructed the Monday night 7:00pm class between 2001 and 2011.  This was primarily a syllabus class aimed at blue and yellow belt level. He now supports Kyoshi Scott in the Thursday Open Class 6:00-7:00pm.

Kyoshi Steve has travelled and trained in a variety of dojo’s around New Zealand and abroad.  He has trained at Honbu on two occasions and also enjoyed training at several Australian dojo’s while working there.

 

Kyoshi Steve has worked in a variety of information technology companies, both in New Zealand and Europe over the past 30 years.  He is currently employed as an IT Infrastructure Architect by Jade Software Corporation - a well-known and respected Canterbury IT company.  As well as a thorough knowledge of the IT industry, he has developed strong communication and project management skills.

 

He also holds a bachelor of Business Studies degree from Massey University, which was obtained extramurally while he continued to work full-time.
