Jun Shihan Scott Taylor
6th Dan
Jun Shihan started training in 1987 at the Christchurch Shibu under Hanshi Renzie Hanham. His beginning instructor was Senpai Andrew Sparks, his green belt instructor Sei Shihan Harry Roelofs, and his brown belt instructor was Sei Shihan Neil Mathieson. He graded to Shodan in 1993, to Kyoshi (5th Dan) in 2013, and to Jun Shihan (6th Dan) in 2021.
In 1990, Jun Shihan Scott gained third place in the Seido National Tournament in brown belt kumite. He also competed in three Nelson tournaments throughout the period of 1987 – 1990. Jun Shihan Scott has also been teaching since this time.
Jun Shihan Scott became the head instructor at New Brighton Dojo in 2016. His classes focus on good etiquette, strong form, training hard, having a bit of fun, and enjoying your fellow karateka. He is supported by a talented team of black belt instructors.
